🧩 Step 1 β€” Invite the Bot

Invite the official Cross-Verification Bot to your Discord server: Invite the bot

πŸ’‘ Tip: You’ll need Administrator permissions to complete this process.

πŸ” Step 2 β€” Configure Bot Permissions

  1. Ensure the bot has the necessary permissions for your use case.

⚠️ If you disable permissions the bot needs, it will not work. As with any Discord bot, Nox Vitae recommends only inviting bots you fully trust.

  2. Once the bot has joined, make sure its role has permission to post within your designated channel.

πŸͺΆ We recommend raising the bot's role as high as possible. Some channel permission overrides can prevent roles from being applied to certain users β€” best practice is to create a channel where the only override is that @everyone cannot send messages or add reactions. In the future, additional features may require greater permission use.

βš™οΈ Step 3 β€” Run the Setup Command

Once the bot is active, run /cross_verification setup to customize your usage of the bot.

Cross-Verification Setup β€” Step 1 of 2

Configure verification roles and settings for your server.

  • πŸ“ Select Verification Panel Channel β€” Choose where users will see the verification panel.
  • 🎭 Configure Role Types β€” Choose whether to create new roles or use existing ones for each verification tier.
    • Linked Role β€” Assign a role to users who have linked their VRChat account to their Discord account, regardless of verification status.
    • Verified Role β€” Assign a role to users who have completed the age verification process, regardless of whether they are +18 or not.
    • +18 Verified Role β€” Assign a role to users who have completed the age verification process and are verified to be over 18 years old.

Cross-Verification Setup β€” Step 2 of 2

Configure additional verification settings for your server.

  • βš™οΈ Auto-Verification β€” Automatically assign roles to members who are already verified when they join.

⚠️ Nox Vitae does not recommend enabling this unless you're familiar with roles/role conflicts on Discord β€” it could potentially allow people past other server security measures, such as bypassing rules pages.

  • πŸ”„ Role Swap β€” Remove a specific role (e.g., guest, unverified) from a user when they verify, and replace it with a designated role.
  • πŸ‘€ Parented Role β€” Optionally give an existing role to users after reaching a specific verification level (Linked, Verified, +18 Verified).
  • ⏱️ Verification Timeout β€” Automatically timeout or kick users who don't verify within a time limit. Great for filtering out bots and scammers.
    • Timeout Duration β€” How long users have to obtain the required role. If you'd like a custom duration, set it after setup with the /timeouts time command.
    • Required Role β€” If the user does not yet have this role when the time ends, they will be kicked from the server.

Click Finish Setup once you've configured both pages.

🧭 Step 4 β€” Create the Verification Panel

Run: /create_verification_panel

This creates the interactive verification panel for your users. For best results:

  • Place it in a dedicated channel (e.g., #verify-here).
  • Restrict the channel so @everyone cannot send messages or react. The bot manages all interactions automatically.

πŸŽ‰ Step 5 β€” All Done!

Your verification panel is now live! Users can link their VRChat and Discord accounts seamlessly.

πŸ’« You’re done β€” your community verification is automated, safe, and running smoothly!
